The Story
Single Papa follows Gaurav “GG” Gehlot, a carefree, somewhat immature man who has just gone through a divorce because his ex-wife did not want children while he desperately did. Shortly after finalising the divorce, Gaurav’s life takes an unexpected turn when he finds a baby left in the back of his car and instantly decides to take responsibility for the child and adopt him — a choice that shocks everyone around him from neighbours to authorities. Gaurav’s decision disrupts the dynamic of his affluent, close-knit Indian family: his parents, who have always treated him like a “man-child,” are baffled by his sudden leap into fatherhood; his sister is preoccupied with her own impending marriage and worried about how a single brother with a child might affect family reputation; and extended relatives offer unsolicited advice and judgments. Amid the uproar, Gaurav must navigate the legal, emotional and social hurdles of adoption — facing sceptical officials who question whether a single man can raise a child, and battling societal norms that assume caregiving is primarily a woman’s role. As he fights for custody and learns practical parenting skills (from sleepless nights and diaper disasters to hospital visits and bureaucratic hurdles), the series charts Gaurav’s evolution from a glorified bachelor into someone confronting responsibility, vulnerability and love he never knew he had. Along the way, there are countless comedic missteps, awkward family gatherings, chaotic interventions by friends, and quieter moments of bonding with the baby that begin to reshape Gaurav’s identity and purpose. Through each episode, Gaurav’s determination to prove that he can provide a safe, nurturing home for his adopted child pushes him to grow up fast, challenge stereotypes and transform not just himself but also the people around him. The culmination sees his family slowly rallying around him, grudging supporters turning into allies, and Gaurav stepping firmly into the role of a devoted single father, redefining what a modern family can look like in contemporary Indian society.

Drawn to her charm and intelligence, Shiv, against his better judgment, finds himself developing feelings for her, further complicating his already stretched emotional and logistical resources. Adding to his woes, his now teenage children from each marriage are growing up and becoming more inquisitive. One of his sons, Rohan, a budding detective-enthusiast, starts noticing peculiar patterns in his father's schedule, unexplained absences, and sudden mood shifts. His amateur sleuthing leads him closer to the truth, inadvertently involving his friends (who are, unknown to him, his half-siblings). As Shiv attempts to juggle a potential fourth romantic involvement with Tanya, evade Rohan's increasingly sharp observations, and maintain the delicate balance between Anjali, Simran, and Juhi, his secret life teeters on the brink of collapse. A series of hilarious misunderstandings, close calls, and mistaken identities ensue, particularly during a family-wide company retreat that all four women (and their respective children) unexpectedly attend. Shiv's desperate attempts to keep them apart and prevent the inevitable collision form the core of the comedic chaos, leading to a climactic sequence where all his lies are on the verge of being exposed in the most public and embarrassing manner possible, forcing him to confront the consequences of his choices.

Bhooma Devi arrives in Hyderabad to pursue her MA in English, optimistic and eager to embrace a fresh chapter of life. In her first week she meets Vikram, a computer engineering student whose charm and confidence draw her in; their flirtation quickly blossoms into a full-blown relationship. At first, their courtship seems typical of young love—the shared classes, the laughter at coffee break, the closely held notes passed between desks. But as time passes, Vikram’s attitude begins to shift. What started as sweetness becomes possessiveness. His jokes about gender roles turn sharp, his suggestions about what Bhooma should wear or whom she should meet become instructions. Suddenly, Bhooma’s father refuses to grant permission for her outings, her friends drift away under Vikram’s subtle demands, and her grades slip because she’s distracted by the weight of being someone’s “ideal girlfriend.” Behind the scenes, Vikram exploits the perception of being a loving partner while methodically eroding her independence. He dismisses her concerns as over-sensitivity, applauds her when she complies, and withdraws when she doesn’t. Bhooma finds herself in a literal foam-pit at a college game, unable to climb out—not because of chance, but because she’s frozen by fear and the knowledge that “being good” isn’t enough. Eventually, isolated and trapped, she realizes that the relationship isn’t uplifting—it’s limiting. Her turning point comes when she sees her father’s disappointment and recognizes the mirror of her own reflection cracking. She confronts Vikram in front of their peers, telling him that love does not require obedience. When he refuses to change, she walks away—quietly, resolutely. In the aftermath, Bhooma reclaims her friendships, refocuses her studies, and begins giving tours on her terms, offering visitors the choice to see beauty or complexity in the world. Though Vikram remains part of her past, she no longer lets his narrative define her future.
