Storyline

F1 follows Sonny Hayes, a former Formula One prodigy whose career was destroyed by a horrific crash during his prime. Decades later, he lives in obscurity, competing in small races and drifting through life burdened by regret. His past catches up when Ruben Cervantes, his former teammate turned team owner, offers him a second chance: return to Formula One to help save Ruben’s failing team, APXGP. Reluctant but intrigued, Sonny accepts, stepping back into a sport that has evolved far beyond the instinct-driven era he once knew. At APXGP, Sonny meets Joshua Pearce, a young, impulsive driver who sees Sonny as outdated and irrelevant. Their rivalry fuels the team’s tension, but as the season progresses, they slowly begin to learn from each other. Sonny’s intuition and experience complement Joshua’s speed and aggression, forming an uneasy partnership. Together, they face grueling races, mechanical failures, and immense media pressure, while the team fights financial collapse and internal chaos. As Sonny adjusts to modern technology and rekindles his lost confidence, his aging body and memories of the crash continue to haunt him. In a climactic finale, APXGP must win its final race to survive. Against all odds, Sonny and Joshua work in perfect harmony, executing a daring strategy that brings them victory. The team is saved, and Sonny earns the redemption he had sought for years. In the aftermath, he realises his true legacy lies not in trophies, but in the inspiration he passes on.
