Frequently Asked Questions
Everything about how OttCinemaTv works. Can't find your answer? Get in touch.
What is OttCinemaTv?
OttCinemaTv tracks what is releasing across OTT platforms and in theatres. For every title you get the release date, the platform it streams on, the trailer, the cast and a storyline — so you can decide what to watch tonight. We currently track 3,760 titles (2,380 movies and 1,380 series).
Can I watch movies or series on OttCinemaTv?
No. We are an information and discovery site, not a streaming service. We tell you where a title is available and link you to the platform that carries it — you watch it there with your own subscription.
Where does your data come from?
Title details, artwork, cast and streaming availability come from The Movie Database (TMDB). Storyline summaries are generated separately. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
Do you have cast and crew information?
Yes. Every title lists its main cast, and each person has their own profile page with a photo, biography, date of birth, place of birth, social links and the full list of titles they appear in — including the character they played. We hold profiles for around 17,494 people.
How do I find all the movies and shows an actor has been in?
Open any title and click a name under "Top Cast" — that opens their profile, which lists their work in our catalogue with the character they played, anything of theirs releasing soon, and other titles they are known for.
Which OTT platforms do you cover?
Availability is tracked for Apple TV+, Chaupal, Disney+, JioHotstar, MUBI, Netflix, Peacock, Prime Video, Sony Liv, Sun NXT and more. Platform coverage reflects Indian availability, so a title may show a different platform than it does in another country.
What is the difference between the release date and the OTT date?
The release date is when a title first came out — in cinemas for a film, or the premiere date for a series. The OTT date is when it became available to stream. A film often has both: a theatrical date first, then a digital release weeks later.
Why does a title say "In theatres" with no streaming platform?
Because it has not been licensed to a streaming service yet, or the licensing has not been published. Streaming availability appears once the platform confirms it, and our data refreshes continuously — so check back after the theatrical run.
How often is the information updated?
New and upcoming releases are pulled in daily, and existing titles are refreshed continuously through the day to pick up newly announced streaming platforms, trailers, ratings and cast. Release dates can still change at short notice — always confirm on the platform itself before planning your evening.
Where do the ratings come from?
Ratings are the community score from TMDB, shown out of 10. They are not our own reviews and they move over time as more people vote.
Do you cover regional Indian content?
Yes — Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi and Bengali titles are all tracked alongside international releases, including platform-exclusive series.
Why is the storyline missing on some new releases?
We only publish a storyline we can stand behind. For a title released in the last few weeks there is often no reliable synopsis available yet, so we leave it blank rather than print something inaccurate. It fills in once a dependable summary exists.
A release date or platform looks wrong. How do I report it?
Please tell us through the contact form and include the title — corrections are welcome. Upstream data occasionally lags a last-minute change of date or platform.
Can I request a title that is missing?
Yes. Send us the title through the contact form and we will add it, usually within a day or two.
