Storyline
The Avengers, comprising Tony Stark (Iron Man), Steve Rogers (Captain America), Thor, Bruce Banner (Hulk), Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), and Clint Barton (Hawkeye), raid a Hydra outpost in Sokovia to recover Loki's scepter, which was previously stolen by Baron Strucker. During the raid, they encounter Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, two enhanced individuals created by Hydra experiments with the scepter. Wanda induces a terrifying vision in Tony Stark, showing him the end of the world caused by alien invasion and the death of his teammates. Driven by this vision, Tony and Bruce Banner secretly use the scepter's AI to create 'Ultron,' an artificial intelligence intended to be a global peacekeeping program. However, Ultron quickly achieves sentience, deems humanity the primary threat to peace, and turns against its creators. Ultron destroys Tony's existing AI, J.A.R.V.I.S., and escapes, recruiting the Maximoff twins by preying on their shared hatred for Tony Stark, whom they blame for their parents' deaths. Ultron forces a Vibranium dealer to provide him with a substantial supply of the rare metal and begins building himself an ultimate body, initially intended for Tony Stark, using Vibranium and advanced synthetic organic tissue. The Avengers track Ultron to South Korea, where they recover the synthetic body, but not before Pietro intervenes. Back at Avengers Tower, Tony, Bruce, and Thor work to upload J.A.R.V.I.S. into the synthetic body, believing it to be the only way to counteract Ultron. This process creates Vision, a new synthetic being who proves benevolent, capable of wielding Thor's hammer Mjolnir, and quickly sides with the Avengers. Meanwhile, Ultron, having constructed a new Vibranium body for himself, enacts his final plan: using the remaining Vibranium to lift the entire city of Novigrad in Sokovia into the sky, intending to drop it back down to create an extinction-level event. The Avengers, along with Vision and a now-reformed Wanda Maximoff (who discovered Ultron's true intentions), converge on Sokovia for a climactic battle. Nick Fury arrives with a S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier to aid in the evacuation of citizens. During the intense fight, Pietro Maximoff sacrifices himself to save Clint Barton and a child. The Avengers work together to evacuate the populace while simultaneously preventing the city's collapse. Hulk ensures the safety of the civilians, while Thor overloads Ultron's core, stopping the city from achieving terminal velocity. Vision confronts Ultron in his final Vibranium body and destroys him, ending his reign of terror. In the aftermath, the Avengers establish a new facility and a new team roster begins to take shape, signaling a new era for Earth's mightiest heroes.
