Led with quiet resolve, this band of men realizes early on that retreat is not an option; their mission is to delay the enemy advance and protect their comrades in the valley below. As the Chinese troops — numbering in the thousands — begin their assault, the Indian defenders endure relentless artillery barrages, brutal hand-to-hand combat and crippling casualties. Throughout the battle, individual acts of courage and self-sacrifice emerge as soldiers take positions, fire relentlessly, and rally each other when hope seems lost.
