In the isolated, self-sufficient village of Aashray, nestled deep within a seemingly impenetrable forest, the villagers live under the strict guidance of the 'Protector', who preaches that the outside world is a toxic wasteland from which they are divinely protected. Young Maya, however, has always harbored a quiet skepticism, intensified by the mysterious disappearance of her younger sister, Leela, years ago – an event dismissed by the Protector as a tragic loss to the 'Great Sickness'. While tending to the ancient village archives, Maya stumbles upon a cryptic, hand-drawn map tucked inside an old bird-watching guide, marked with the symbol of a soaring bird and the single word: 'Chiraiya'.
Further clandestine investigation leads Maya to a series of hidden entries in forgotten ledgers, revealing a pattern of disappearances over decades, always attributed to the Great Sickness, but occurring predominantly among those who questioned the Protector's rule or showed signs of independent thought. She also finds evidence of strange, non-native flora growing in a restricted area of the forest, contradicting the Protector's claims of an uninhabitable outside. They encounter signs of other human life and eventually stumble upon a small, clandestine settlement of former Aashray residents, led by an elderly woman who reveals the true meaning of 'Chiraiya': a network and a sanctuary for those who escaped the Protector's tyranny.
It is revealed that the Protector, in collaboration with an unseen, external mining corporation, had systematically exploited Aashray's rich natural resources for generations. The 'Great Sickness' was a fabrication, and the missing villagers, including Leela, were either conscripted into forced labor in hidden mines or silenced and discarded for their defiance. Maya discovers her sister, alive but enslaved, in one such mining operation. Rallying the escaped residents and Rohan, Maya devises a daring plan to infiltrate the mines, expose the Protector's scheme to the remaining villagers of Aashray, and free the captives. The film culminates in a tense confrontation where the truth is unveiled, sparking a rebellion within Aashray and a desperate fight for freedom against the Protector and his enforcers, ultimately dismantling the oppressive system and leading Aashray towards a future of genuine liberty and reunification with the outside world.
