The Story
Set in the late 1990s, Rangbaaz: The Bihar Chapter follows the rise and fall of Haroon Shah Ali Baig, a man from the small town of Dhumbar, Bihar, whose journey from a studious young man to one of the most feared gangsters in the state becomes the heart of the story. Initially portrayed as a bright and ambitious youth from a modest background, Haroon dreams of bringing change to his impoverished region. His life takes a drastic turn when systemic corruption, caste-based oppression, and the politics of power push him into the dark underbelly of crime. What begins as a small act of rebellion against local injustice soon spirals into a ruthless empire built on violence, influence, and fear. As Haroon’s name spreads across Bihar, he becomes both a folk hero to the poor and a menace to the authorities. The police, led by the relentless SP Raghav Kumar, make it their mission to end Haroon’s reign. The cat-and-mouse chase between the two forms a tense backbone to the narrative, intertwining the law’s pursuit of justice with Haroon’s moral descent. Haroon rises in the world of politics, securing protection from local leaders who exploit his might for their gain. He enters the world of electoral power, becoming a symbol of the blurred lines between crime and governance. Yet with every victory, his personal life fractures — loyalty turns to betrayal, friends become foes, and the trust of those he once fought for begins to fade. Over time, Haroon’s empire faces collapse as his enemies close in and his own choices come back to haunt him. His downfall is as inevitable as his rise was meteoric. The police tighten their grip, allies desert him, and the once-celebrated man of the people stands isolated, trapped between his conscience and survival. The series captures his final struggle to hold onto his identity amid chaos — a fight not just against the system, but against himself. His story ends as both a legend and a cautionary tale, reflecting the tragic path of a man who wanted to change his world but became consumed by its darkness.
