Storyline

Set in Lucknow during the early 1980s, the film follows Amay Patnaik, an honest and uncompromising Income Tax Deputy Commissioner. His integrity often leads to frequent transfers, and his latest posting brings him to Uttar Pradesh. Amay receives an anonymous tip about an exorbitant amount of black money hoarded by Rameshwar Singh, a powerful and feared politician and businessman colloquially known as Tauji. Tauji is a seemingly untouchable figure, deeply entrenched in political circles, with influence that reaches the highest echelons of power. Despite warnings about Tauji's dangerous connections and the immense personal risk, Amay decides to launch an income tax raid on Tauji's mansion. He meticulously plans the operation, ensuring complete secrecy to prevent leaks. The raid commences with a large team of IT officers and police, immediately facing hostility from Tauji and his family, who initially attempt to dismiss the raid as a mistake, then resort to intimidation, emotional manipulation, and attempts to destroy evidence. The search for the hidden wealth proves incredibly challenging as Tauji's mansion is a labyrinth of secret compartments. The raid extends for several days, turning into a tense standoff. Tauji mobilizes his loyalists outside the mansion to cut off supplies to the raiding party and incite public sentiment against Amay. Amay's wife, Malini, also faces threats but remains steadfast in her support. Despite the immense pressure and dwindling resources, Amay remains resolute. His team eventually uncovers ingenious hiding spots, revealing an astonishing cache of cash, gold, and property deeds concealed within walls, furniture, and underground bunkers. Tauji frantically tries to use his political clout to halt the raid, even attempting to contact the Prime Minister. However, the Prime Minister, recognizing the overwhelming evidence and Amay's unwavering integrity, grants Amay full support to complete the investigation. The raid concludes with a record-breaking seizure of illicit wealth, making it one of the most significant income tax operations in Indian history, solidifying Amay's reputation as a fearless and upright officer.
