Percy Jackson and the Olympians (2023) follows the titular twelve-year-old Percy Jackson, a seemingly ordinary kid with a knack for trouble, as he discovers he is a demigod – the son of a Greek god and a mortal woman. His life takes a drastic turn when monsters, previously thought to be myth, begin attacking him. After his mother, Sally, is seemingly killed by a Minotaur, Percy is taken to Camp Half-Blood, a secret sanctuary for demigods. There, he learns about his heritage, meets other demigods, and begins to understand the world of Olympian gods. The series focuses on the central mystery of Zeus's stolen master lightning bolt, which Percy is wrongly accused of taking. Along with his newly found friends, Annabeth Chase, a sharp-witted daughter of Athena, and Grover Underwood, a satyr who is his protector and best friend, Percy embarks on a quest across America. Their mission is to find the true thief, return the lightning bolt before a catastrophic war erupts between the gods, and clear Percy's name. Their journey is fraught with danger, as they encounter various mythological creatures and gods, including Medusa, Echidna and the Chimera, Ares, and Hades, each presenting unique challenges and revelations. Percy grapples with his identity, his newfound powers, and the immense responsibility placed upon him. He slowly uncovers a larger conspiracy at play, realizing that the lightning bolt theft is merely a symptom of a deeper, more insidious plot designed to incite a divine war. The trio descends into the Underworld, confronts Hades, and eventually learns the truth about the true traitor and the real motive behind the theft. The series culminates in a showdown that not only decides the fate of the Olympian gods but also forces Percy to accept his destiny and the difficult choices that come with being a demigod.
