Storyline

Jagdish Tyagi, known as Jolly, is a struggling lawyer from Meerut with a low success rate. Dreaming of a better life and professional recognition, he moves to Delhi, aspiring to make a name for himself in the High Court. His opportunity arises when he learns about a high-profile hit-and-run case involving wealthy businessman Rahul Dewan, who is accused of driving under the influence and killing six migrant laborers sleeping on a pavement. The defense is handled by the formidable and highly respected lawyer Rajpal. Initially, Jolly takes on the case, filing a Public Interest Litigation, primarily for the publicity it might bring him, even though he lacks significant experience or resources. He faces immediate ridicule and contempt from the judge and Rajpal, who easily dismiss his initial, ill-prepared arguments. Humiliated and underestimated, Jolly almost gives up, but an encounter with the victims' families and a realization of the grave injustice fuels his determination. He begins a diligent investigation, interviewing witnesses, including a pregnant woman who was also injured in the accident but was paid off to remain silent. He uncovers inconsistencies in the police report and the defense's narrative, particularly regarding the identity of the driver and the tampering of evidence. As the trial progresses, Jolly, despite his initial amateurishness, slowly starts to uncover layers of corruption and manipulation orchestrated by Dewan and Rajpal. He faces threats and intimidation but persists, using his wit and newfound dedication to challenge Rajpal's experienced strategies. The turning point comes when he manages to get a crucial witness to testify honestly in court, revealing that Dewan's driver, not Dewan himself, was driving and was subsequently framed. Jolly meticulously builds his case, exposing how the powerful use their influence to suppress truth and justice. In a dramatic courtroom confrontation, Jolly presents irrefutable evidence, including a video recording and eyewitness testimony, that proves the real sequence of events and the deliberate cover-up. The court ultimately delivers a verdict that upholds justice for the victims, convicting Dewan and establishing Jolly as a lawyer of integrity and competence, achieving the respect he initially sought.
