Ice Age: Continental Drift

Storyline

The fourth installment of the 'Ice Age' saga begins with Scrat's ongoing pursuit of an acorn, which inadvertently triggers a cataclysmic event: continental drift. This massive geological shift causes the world to literally break apart, separating the beloved herd. Manny, Diego, Sid, and Sid's senile Grandma are stranded on a drifting iceberg, cut off from Ellie, Peaches, and the rest of the mainland animals. As they struggle to navigate the treacherous ocean, they encounter a ruthless band of pirates led by the gigantopithecus Captain Gutt, who attempts to force them into his crew. Manny, determined to return to his family, refuses to join and orchestrates a daring escape from Gutt's ice ship. This act makes them sworn enemies of Gutt, who vows revenge. The quartet continues their perilous journey, encountering perilous creatures, mystical sirens, and an island inhabited by a diverse group of new characters, including a resourceful female sabre-tooth squirrel named Shira, who is initially part of Gutt's crew but eventually sides with Diego. Meanwhile, on the mainland, Peaches struggles with teenage angst and a budding romance, while also dealing with the impending threat of the shifting landmasses. Manny, Diego, Sid, and Grandma ultimately make it back to the mainland, only to find that Gutt and his crew have followed them, intending to capture Peaches and exact their revenge. A climactic battle ensues between the prehistoric heroes, the pirates, and the evolving landscape, culminating in Manny's triumphant reunion with his family and the herd finding a new, safer home on a freshly formed landmass.
