Ice Age: Collision Course

Storyline

The film opens with Scrat, still in pursuit of his acorn, accidentally activating an abandoned alien spacecraft. His antics send him into outer space, where he inadvertently causes a series of cosmic events, including sending a giant asteroid hurtling towards Earth. Back on Earth, Manny and Ellie are preparing for their daughter Peaches' wedding to Julian, a kind but clumsy woolly mammoth. Manny disapproves of Julian, concerned about Peaches moving away with him. Diego and Shira are trying to start a family, but their intimidating appearance scares away other animals. Sid is dumped by his girlfriend and longs for love. During a party for Manny and Ellie's anniversary, the sky begins to rain small asteroids, signaling an impending doom. Buck, the one-eyed weasel from the lost world, emerges from underground, having discovered an ancient stone pillar that details past asteroid impacts and a prophecy about the next one. He deduces that the asteroid is magnetic and has consistently struck the same spot on Earth, hinting at a potential solution there. He leads the herd on a journey to find this impact site, believing it holds the key to averting disaster. Their journey takes them through various landscapes, pursued by a trio of dinosaur-birds (Dromaeosaurs) named Gavin, Gertie, and Roger, who seek revenge on Buck for past grievances and want to steal the herd's eggs for their own survival. The herd eventually arrives at Geotopia, a vibrant, crystal-filled community hidden within a massive crater, where animals live in eternal youth thanks to the surrounding magnetic crystals. The leader, Shangri Llama, practices extreme yoga and meditation, while Sid instantly falls in love with Brooke, a beautiful sloth from Geotopia. Buck explains his theory: previous asteroid impacts were deflected by the magnetic properties of Geotopia's crystals, and they need to find a way to send these crystals into space to attract and divert the approaching asteroid. The Dromaeosaurs eventually catch up, causing a disruption, but are ultimately thwarted. To power the crystal-launching mechanism, they need to activate the crystals within Geotopia, which requires a significant amount of kinetic energy. With Shangri Llama's guidance and the collective effort of the Geotopian inhabitants and the herd, they manage to generate enough energy by dancing and exercising vigorously. This action causes all the Geotopian crystals to glow intensely, creating a massive magnetic force. Buck then devises a plan to use the natural geysers within Geotopia to launch the minerals and fragments from the activated crystals into space. Sid accidentally triggers the geysers, sending the magnetic material towards the incoming asteroid. The asteroid, now attracted to the powerful magnetic field created by the launched crystals, changes course, narrowly missing Earth. The Dromaeosaurs, witnessing the asteroid's deflection, are convinced to change their ways. Back on Earth, Peaches and Julian get married, Manny fully accepts Julian, and Sid and Brooke, whose youth has been restored by Geotopian crystals, begin their relationship. The Geotopian residents adjust to their new, normal aging process, finding new joy in life's natural progression.
