Good Fortune is a supernatural comedy directed by Aziz Ansari in his feature directorial debut. The film follows Gabriel (Keanu Reeves), a well-meaning but inept angel who is responsible for minor interventions like preventing choking incidents and stopping people from texting while driving. Gabriel becomes disillusioned with his duties and seeks to make a more significant impact. He encounters Arj (Aziz Ansari), a struggling gig worker who is dissatisfied with his life and feels stuck in a cycle of menial jobs. Gabriel decides to swap Arj's life with that of Jeff (Seth Rogen), a wealthy venture capitalist, to teach him that money doesn't solve all problems. However, the plan backfires when Arj embraces the luxurious lifestyle and refuses to return to his former life. Gabriel loses his wings and is sent to live among humans, experiencing the challenges and joys of everyday life. As Gabriel navigates his new human existence, he learns valuable lessons about empathy, fulfillment, and the complexities of human emotions. The film explores themes of class disparity, economic struggle, and the search for meaning in a materialistic world.
