The Story
Good Fortune is a supernatural comedy directed by Aziz Ansari in his feature directorial debut. The film follows Gabriel (Keanu Reeves), a well-meaning but inept angel who is responsible for minor interventions like preventing choking incidents and stopping people from texting while driving. Gabriel becomes disillusioned with his duties and seeks to make a more significant impact. He encounters Arj (Aziz Ansari), a struggling gig worker who is dissatisfied with his life and feels stuck in a cycle of menial jobs. Gabriel decides to swap Arj's life with that of Jeff (Seth Rogen), a wealthy venture capitalist, to teach him that money doesn't solve all problems. However, the plan backfires when Arj embraces the luxurious lifestyle and refuses to return to his former life. Gabriel loses his wings and is sent to live among humans, experiencing the challenges and joys of everyday life. As Elara gathers the shards, she not only grows in strength and confidence but also uncovers the truth about her family's past and the sacrifice they made to protect the realm. The final confrontation takes place at the dormant Celestial Beacon, where she must face Morwen in a battle of wits and power, using the combined energy of the shards to finally restore light to the world and accept her destiny as its new guardian.
