Avengers: Endgame

Storyline

Following the devastating events of 'Avengers: Infinity War', half of all life in the universe has been extinguished by Thanos's snap. The remaining Avengers, reeling from their loss, locate Thanos on a remote planet and discover he has destroyed the Infinity Stones, making his victory irreversible. Thor decapitates him in a fit of rage and despair. Five years later, the world is a desolate and grief-stricken place. Scott Lang, having been trapped in the Quantum Realm, unexpectedly reappears, having experienced only five hours while five years passed in the real world. He proposes a desperate plan to use the Quantum Realm for time travel to collect the Infinity Stones from various points in the past before Thanos acquired them, hoping to undo his snap. The remaining Avengers, including Tony Stark, Bruce Banner (now Smart Hulk), Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Rocket, embark on this perilous 'time heist'. They split into teams, traveling to different past timelines to retrieve the Space Stone, Mind Stone, Reality Stone, Power Stone, Time Stone, and Soul Stone. During their mission, complications arise: Loki escapes with the Tesseract in 2012, Captain America fights his past self, and a past version of Nebula alerts the past Thanos to the Avengers' plan. Black Widow sacrifices herself on Vormir to obtain the Soul Stone. Upon their return to the present with all six Stones, Smart Hulk performs a second snap, successfully bringing back all the vanished beings. However, the past Thanos and his army, brought forward in time by past Nebula, arrive and launch a full-scale assault on the Avengers' headquarters. A massive battle ensues, with the resurrected heroes, including Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, and the Guardians of the Galaxy, joining the present-day Avengers. The combined might of these heroes clashes with Thanos's forces in a desperate struggle for the fate of the universe. In the climactic moment, facing overwhelming odds, Tony Stark manages to steal the Infinity Stones from Thanos's gauntlet and uses them to perform a final snap, disintegrating Thanos and his entire army, but the immense power proves fatal to him. The universe is saved, but at the cost of Iron Man's life. Following Tony's funeral, Captain America embarks on a mission to return the Infinity Stones to their original timelines to prevent paradoxes. However, he chooses to remain in the past, living out a full life with Peggy Carter. He reappears in the present as an old man, passing his shield and the mantle of Captain America to Sam Wilson.
